Basement Flood Drying
St John's Wood - London

When a sump pump failed and led to internal flooding two floors below ground in a London basement, dehumidifiers were swiftly introduced, to little effect.

With the cinema room out of action, our surveyor client asked Trustheat to provide an alternative, expedited solution.

The challenge presented was how to efficiently remove excess moisture from a room that was over 20 feet in height, two floors below ground and with no windows for ventilation.

Pressure (but positive)

Our solution used our evaporation drying system in conjunction with a carefully designed network of ducting.

With heat exchangers distributed throughout, and the room isolated with tenting, we raised the internal temperature and subjected the space to volume airflow.

Air was drawn in from outside via ducting installed on upper levels, our system heating the air mass before it was introduced to the room.

By using this to create positive pressure, we then ducted the moisture laden air from the room itself, consistently refreshing the internal air mass despite being two floors below ground with no external ventilation points in the room.

After many weeks of dehumidifier drying, our solution took just 5 days to resolve the problem.
