Flood Restoration and
Timber Infestation Treatment
CPD Event

Thursday 06/10/2016

CABE Headquarters - Northampton

This event will look at the numerous applications of using controlled temperature environments to solve a variety of property-based problems:

Flood Restoration and Recovery

Using heat to dry flooded properties has a number of significant benefits when compared to traditional dehumidifier drying solutions.

The presentation will outline how using evaporation drying can dry flooded properties in an average of 4 days, with minimal strip out and subsequent reinstatement. We will also outline how mineral salts are efficiently removed from structural materials as part of this process.

This will include a case study of how 59 flooded properties were dried in just 47 days for City of York Council following a major flood event this winter.

Timber Infestation & Fungus Treatment

With only a single visit treatment required, heat can penetrate large dimension timbers to ensure 100% effective treatment of all life cycle stages of a timber infestation, including; eggs, adults, pupa and larva.

In addition, using heat provides a holistic solution as recommended in the BS7913 standard, removing excess moisture that can support the development of a variety of infestations such as death watch and common furniture beetle.

Construction drying

By creating controlled temperature and RH environments it’s possible to keep construction projects on schedule whatever the weather. The presentation will outline the benefits of using heat to facilitate concrete curing and ensure the correct application of various coatings, finishes and flooring.

The presentation will be followed by an in-depth Q & A session, where attendees can find out more about all the above applications of controlled heat.
