Ipswich Museum using Trustheat for Insect Timber Treatment

Our heat treatment solution will remove death watch beetle and common furniture beetle from a variety of artefacts

Trustheat have been appointed by the Ipswich Museum to provide a heat treatment solution to treat an infestation of death watch and common furniture beetle that poses an ongoing risk to a wide variety of priceless and historical artefacts housed by the museum.

Working in conjunction with the team from NBC Environment our solution will expose a variety of timber artefacts to managed temperatures to ensure a complete eradication of all life cycle stages of the beetle infestation.

With complete live time control of both temperature and relative humidity, our approach will ensure we maintain the moisture levels present within the artefacts and museum environment to prevent movement, whilst still ensuring the beetle infestation is exposed to the necessary temperatures to eliminate the entire infestation.

Managing Director Oliver Townend notes;

"The museum is home to a variety of timber artefacts that have significant cultural value and we are delighted to be involved in a project that will help ensure these items are preserved for future generations to enjoy.
We have worked closely with the Ipswich Museum team to ensure a schedule of works that minimises disruption, and our single visit treatment will take just 3 days to completely eradicate the infestation that is present throughout the building and it's fascinating contents."

Update: With treatment now successfully completed, read our beetle and woodworm heat treatment case study from Ipswich Museum.
